What the marketing books don’t tell you

The Top 5 things that marketing books don’t tell you about Partner marketing….

5. Corporate brand teams: Involve your coporate brand team early in any marketing activity which will utilise more than just your company logo.

4. Spreadsheets are king: Many marketing departments rely on spreadsheets/email for tracking marketing development funds between two organisations. Many hours are often lost re-building these if they aren’t shared amongst teams or are lost – back them up now!

3.  Get together: Investing face to face time to define the joint value prop early in any discussions will save you a lot of time and effort later in the process.

2. Collaborative advantage: You have much greater negotiation power with marketing suppliers as a collection of companies e.g. joint adverts, exhibitions. This can save you tens of thousands.

1. Procurement/Buyers: Don’t forget the procurement department. A great joint plan can soon be brought to an abrupt halt as a result of procurement deciding to renegotiate supplier contracts.
